Dismemberment was the theme early today on the third day of testimony
in the capital murder trial of Daphne Wright.
Jurors passed around two photographs of items found Feb. 11, 2007 at
the Sioux Falls Regional Landfill.
One showed carpeting from Wright’s basement. The other – two human
feet and lower legs.
The judge earlier denied a defense motion to keep the photos out.
VanderGiesen’s body was cut up with a chainsaw after her slaying,
Darlene VanderGiesen’s mother bowed her head and swallowed hard
during this part of the testimony.
In other testimony, detectives testified about evidence found at the
Sioux Falls Regional Landfill.
Lt. William Fluit said on cross-examination for the defense that
there were several bloody items found at the landfill which were
never tested for DNA.
